Melbourne diaries: Boyd community centre
Boyd Library and community hub
I wrote this post last year (2024) when we were contemplating moving to melbourne, and I just came across this one in my drafts. Just posting cause it made me so nostalgic about that ‘in-between’ phase when I was still in 2 minds about moving here.
Within a day of visiting Melbourne, I was so lucky to come upon this little gem of a place called the Boyd Community hub.
It’s Mebourne’s youngest cultural and community hub located at the heritage-listed site of the former JH Boyd Girls’ High School on City Rd.
Playgroup started at 10.30 am and then it was time for us to draw and colour in the adjoining room for kids. This is filled to the brim with titles for toddlers, including a little wall dedicated to the art of the young artists! Liam requested that his scribbles feature on the wall and the very lovely librarian was only too happy to oblige. Honestly, a really sweet moment.
The adjoining room holds the main library and and also has a few desks and chairs for study or work. It’s super calm and very quiet, I could tell instantly that this would work amazingly well as a work space for me.
Reminder to myself: Keep an hour aside this coming week to visit again!
