WFH life 〰️

Ever since COVID hit us all, working from home has become more the norm than the exception. More and more people now have flexible working arrangements, not just the ones running their own businesses!

I normally alternated working from home and working at my all-time favourite coworking space for a while now, but these days it’s mostly WFH.

While I truly enjoy the freedom, ease and complete flexibility this brings me, I’ll admit this - there are times when working primarily from home is just not that easy! I am naturally one of those people who loves having other people around me. Extroverted by nature, conversations and collaboration bring me so much joy!
Sitting at the desk at home and ticking things off my to-do list is great - however, it comes with its own set of challenges.

Over the last year, working with my talented, encouraging clients has been an absolute blast.

They are my biggest motivation and the reason I’ve been able to develop a flow that allows productivity and fun, too! I mean, what’s the point of anything if you’re not having fun, right? The reason most of us leave full-time jobs is to have that element of joy in our day-to-day, so that’s one thing I find myself prioritising daily.

Here’s the lowdown on what keeps me motivated and on the go while holding down the business fort!

Creating space specifically for work

This one’s an obvious statement, but I find that having a space that’s inviting and created just for biz makes all the difference. There’s a certain welcoming aura about my space - I adore the morning light coming through the window, the chance to be able to look at the treetops and watch the sky sometimes and having my beloved books shelves around me. Having a second screen is also something I love, it just brings that extra something when I have to design content or research multiple things for the same project or if I’m creating a new proposal for a new client. Spaces hold energy, and it’s uber important that your space at home is set up just the way you like it - makes a world of difference when starting work.

Having said that, it’s always nice to switch it up when you’re tired of sitting at your desk for too long. Balconies, couches, near windows or a chair that you love are all great spots, too!

Taking regular breaks

I can’t even begin to express how much this can help. Regular breaks can include a quick stretch, moving about, making a call to a friend, hydrating yourself or a quick run to your local cafe. I don’t know about you, but my local barista is super friendly and someone who always makes me smile! It’s the small things!

Schedule regular catch-ups

Doing this during lockdown was pretty hard, but having fortnightly catch-ups with other bloggers or business owners can make a world of difference! I’ve found that conversations with others going through the same experience

Afternoon siesta!

This is a bit of an unusual one, but a nanna nap aka a power nap can do absolute wonders for your productivity. Think of it as your go-to tool to reset and rejuvenate, without adding another coffee to your already highly-caffeinated self! This one isn’t guaranteed to combat loneliness, but it is guaranteed to make you feel better and ready for the rest of your day.
